Tips For Helping Your Employees Improve Their Health With Office Furniture

If you manage an office, you want your employees to be happy and healthy. This will reduce the amount of time that your employees have to take off due to illness and increase their productivity. One way that you can help your employees be healthier is to offer alternatives to simply sitting at a desk all day. Office workers who sit at desks all day could suffer from a whole host of problems, including being overweight and having back pain. Here are some types of office furniture that you can offer to provide to help your employees stay well at their jobs.

1. Standing Desk Additions

One easy way to help your employees stay well is to offer standing desk additions to anyone who wants them. These additions are essentially platforms that you can put on top of the desks to increase the height of a surface on which employees can put their computers. These additions come in many different forms, including simple platforms that you can put your laptop on to elevate it, platforms that can be lifted up and down that are great for desktop monitors, and tiered platforms that allow people to work at any height. Standing desk additions tend to be cheaper than a full standing desk and therefore will help you keep your employees from sitting for too long and suffering injuries.

2. Stools

If you offer standing desk additions, be sure that you offer stools as well. Stools allow your employees to sit down when they no longer wish to stand while using the standing desk, thus allowing them to be comfortable without having to alter their desk arrangement. As a bonus, stools tend to not have any back for employees to slouch against, encouraging them to engage their core muscles and strengthen their core during the day.

3. Balance Chairs

If your employees are uninterested in the standing desk, also offer chairs that will help encourage your employees to engage in active sitting. Chairs such as yoga ball chairs and leaning chairs encourage employees to strengthen their core and engage during the day, rather than sit passively. This will allow your employees to burn more calories and build more strength while they are sitting.

For more information, talk to your employees. They will be able to tell you what types of furniture they need to be healthy. Then, you can take that input to a commercial office furniture company.
